Master of Teaching (Secondary)
The Master of Teaching (Secondary) is a graduate entry initial teacher education program. Students may choose up to three designated teaching areas from the following: English, Mathematics, Science, Aboriginal Studies, Agriculture, Business Studies / Commerce, Computing, Drama, Economics / Commerce, Geography, History, Languages, Legal Studies, Music, Society and Culture, Studies of Religion, and Visual Arts. Students may also choose the Master of Teaching (Secondary) to take advantage of the Teaching English to Students of other Languages (TESOL) specialisation and/or the extended curriculum programs in English, Mathematics, Science, Music and Visual Arts.
Students enrolled in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) must undertake three practical (60 days total). These experiences are designed to support students in forming their own links between the academic knowledge they develop at the university and the practical knowledge they can observe, model and individually create within the classroom and school.

Entry Requirements
Applicant must hold an approved undergraduate bachelor degree or overseas equivalent qualification with specialisations which cover two teaching areas; and a minimum IELTS test score 7.5 (with 8.0 in Speaking and Listening and 7.0 in reading and writing); or TOEFL test score 625 (PB); or an acceptable score upon completion of an approved ELICOS program, or equivalent. Other evidence of English proficiency may be accepted.
Skills recognition
After successful completion of this course, graduates will be able to seek formal registration from the appropriate state or territory Teachers Registration Board and recognition as a qualified Secondary School Teacher in Australia. To be eligible for registration and practise as a teacher in Australia, teachers are required to have appropriate qualifications and also meet the “suitability to teach” criteria.
Note: This qualification equips students with the skills of Secondary School Teacher as identified on the Australian Skilled Occupation List (SOL) (2010).

The aim of this course is to educate students who appreciate the complex nature of a teacher's work and practice in ways that promote a socially just, democratic and ecologically sustainable world.
