The Bachelor of Built Environment is a three - year program that provide the education and the training necessary to enter dealing with residential and low rise buildings. The program is very similar to the first three years of the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics (Hons).The program is designed to provide an education and career opportunities in construction contracting, particularly in the residential and light commercial sectors of the industry.
In first year students are provided with foundation studies and are introduced to the role of construction professionals. Students are introduced to methods of design, quantity surveying, construction technology and building material, as well as economic aspects of development. In second year the course deals with the theory and practice of contemporary construction methods and materials, estimating and design economics as well as the legal aspects of development. Third year includes studies in contract administration and development economics, while further extending students knowledge and industry preparedness through research methodology and problem-solving development.

Entry Requirements
An Australian bachelor degree or approved overseas equivalent (Applicants must meet normal University requirements or hold qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the University’s Admissions Committee); and a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0, or TOEFL test score of 550 (PB), or 90 (iBT); or Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge ESOL examination) Grade of C; or Certificate in Advanced English (University of Cambridge ESOL examination) Grade of C an acceptable score in an approved ELICOS Program, or equivalent. Or other evidence of English language proficiency may be acceptable.
Skills recognition
Graduates are anticipated to be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB).

Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Built Environment can articulate your knowledge skills beyond your professional field of study and successful completion of the course qualifies candidates to become Project Managers, Construction Manager / Supervisors, Estimators, Construction Planners, Clerks of works and Contract Administrators in the residential and low-rise sector of the construction industry.
